A conventional Polish bride used to be a three or yet four morning encounter. Often, it was held outside in flowers, forests and stables. They were a celebration of life and the bounty of character. On the night of the ceremony, just before midnight ( or around it if a one- morning wedding), comes the common festival known as “oczepiny”, the debut of the bride. At this point, the mask is removed and she dons her czepek – a cap worn by Polish priestesses to depict their rank as hitched women. This is also when the extended braids are unbraided and cut brief, as a symbol of her transition from boyhood to womanhood.
As the few leave the church, guests shower them with coins and granules, to offer them luck and prosperity. They then change into their celebration garments. It is also conventional to chuck modest, round coins into the couple’s mane– whoever collects the most will get in charge of their finances hot eastern-european women.
